Summer Fun Count Down Facebook Contest

In June of 2015, Hong Kong Tourism Board rolled out the Hong Kong Summer Fun campaign aimed at encouraging Southeast Asian tourists to visit Hong Kong during this summer. Our mission is to spread the whole summer fun campaign to 6 countries, including Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines, Indonesia and Taiwan, by taking place the social media contest during the pre-launch.


Hong Kong is Asia’s most cosmopolitan and dynamic city, with lots of entertainments and a variety of Chinese food. To encourage tourists to experience the best in this city, the Summer Fun Count Down was designed to attract them with 10 different prizes for shopping, eating and playing. Fans can win a free trip, including round-flight, 3-night accommodation and a unique experience, by simply telling the reason they want to visit Hong Kong with their creativity.


To reach out to the tourists who are from those 6 target countries, Facebook is the best channel to gain attentions of the whole Summer Fun campaign and take place this contest. We developed a Facebook application available in 2 languages, which separately launched in Facebook global fan page (Discover Hong Kong) and Taiwan fan page (香港逗陣行) for targeting English-speaking and Chinese-speaking tourists.
To create excitements for this Summer Fun Count Down contest, a new experience prize was unveiled every game day through the Facebook application. There were 10 different questions related to prizes of shopping, eating and playing experiences in Hong Kong. Fans can simply submit the answer with their personal information for a chance to win a free trip to Hong Kong and enjoy the unique experiences.
